Who should attend

Certified security screeners (including Employees of RACSF or employees of a RACSF’s screening service provider) should attend refresher training every 12 months; and security screener who is found to be unfit for carrying out the screening duties, including absence from duty 90 consecutive days

X-ray Screening Refresher Training and Re-certification for Regulated Air Cargo Screening Facility (RACSF)

This two-day refresher training allows X-ray security screeners to reinforce the core principles of X-ray screening of cargo, and to keep them updated with the latest knowledges and trends. The classroom training includes lecturers, trainers’ demonstrations and computer-based training system (CBT) on x-ray screening. To renew the certification, participants also have to pass two written test and two re-certification tests on cargo search and X-ray screening.

 

X-ray security screeners have to pass the Periodic Evaluation Service before attending this training and re-certification tests.

 

X-ray security screeners should attend refresher training conducted by a Certification Body (CB) and be re-certified by such CB once every 12 months. X-ray security screeners who are found to be unfit for carrying out the screen duties, including absence from duty over 90 consecutive days, are also required to take the refresher training and be certified.

Remarks

  • RACSF shall be responsible for the operation of the screening equipment and the continuous supervision of the X-ray screeners’ performance. If any X-ray screener is found to be unfit for carrying out the screening duties, e.g. his/her certification expired or absence from duty 90 consecutive days, RACSF shall report to the CB to suspend or revoke his/her certification. RACSF shall not permit such X-ray screener to perform any screening duty until he/she has received refresher training and passed written and re-certification tests conducted by a CB.
