Professional Pilot's practice

The HKIAA has installed an advanced flight simulator to provide users with a realistic simulation of flight experience, and it is now available to professional pilots for practices of cockpit procedures.

Modelled on a twin-engine airliner cockpit of 1:1 measured dimension, the simulator is equipped with full-function control knobs on the glare shield and touch-screen switches on the main instrument and pedestal panel, all capable of operation of different flight modes and most aircraft systems. Faults and malfunctions can be generated or pre- programmed during different phases of the exercise. Various weather conditions can be projected onto the wide-scope super HD screens to create realistic visual effects with synchronised geographical positions. In addition to auto-pilot, manual flying is practicable by side-stick and rudder pedal around three axes.

Technical staff will be present at the session, assisting the participants to generate or load pre-programmed visual effects of various weather conditions, system malfunctions and selected abnormal/emergency scenarios.

The flight simulator is now available to one or two pilots at any timeslot during 09:00 – 18:00  on weekdays, except Public Holidays. Interested parties please complete and submit the online application form by clicking “Enrol Now”. The Academy will contact you in 14 working days for a detailed arrangement. For enquiry, please send an email to FTE@hkiaaAcademy.com.

Modern Jet Cockpit Familiarisation

This session aims to provide familiarisation of modern airliner cockpit layout and characteristics. A qualified instructor will be present to bring the overview of the aircraft architecture, system structure and display, instrumentation, navigational equipment, logic of normal indications, alert of cautious and warning messages.

The  Flight Management System (FMS) will be explained with illustration of its interface with Flight Director (FD), Auto Pilot (AP) and Auto Thrust  (A/THR) function. Demonstration of auto operation and manual handling in different flight phases will be offered with FD and Raw Data under selection of various weather conditions.

The flight simulator is now available for maximum 6 pilots per session (rotation in operating seats is welcome), at any timeslot during 09:00 – 18:00  on weekdays, except Public Holidays. Interested parties please send an email to FTE@hkiaaAcademy.com, indicating your preferred timeslot.

The flight simulator offers participants experience in a 1:1 flight deck, equipped with the main instrument panel, flight control unit (FCU) and multipurpose control display unit (MCDU)
