On 5 September, HKIAA’s inaugural cohort of the Advanced Master in Aviation Safety Management (AMASM) officially kicked off. This advanced master programme, jointly offered with ENAC, aims to cultivate strategic leadership thinking among aviation and safety professionals from various industry sectors, promoting the advancement of safety standards towards excellence.
The first cohort of students has embarked on a 20-month journey of learning alongside like-minded professionals. During the initial 12 months, the cohort will meet at HKIAA once a month for three days to delve into international standards, practical risk assessment methodologies, and other topics that address complex safety challenges at both organisational and state levels.
Classroom learning will culminate in a professional thesis, which they will complete in the remaining months of the programme. Additionally, students have the unique opportunity to build a truly global network, as the inaugural AMASM cohort’s weekend classes at HKIAA coincide with the 8th cohort of the Advanced Master in Air Transport Management (AMATM), another signature programme also jointly offered with ENAC.
During the weekend classes at HKIAA, the diverse group of professionals from both programmes’ cohorts were able to mingle and network with one another. Countries represented include Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, Oman, Sri Lanka, and Thailand, among others. The cohorts also include participants from Hong Kong’s airport community.
