On 27 November 2024, HKIAA President Simon Li was appointed as a council member of the University of Hong Kong (HKU) for a term of three years with effect from 1 December 2024.
The announcement came as Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Chief Executive John Li, in his capacity as Chancellor of the HKU, appointed a new Council Chairman, Mr Peter Wong and five new members.
The Council is expected to offer fresh viewpoints and perspectives to enhance HKU’s governance and direction.
“It is an honour and privilege to be appointed to the council. HKU already has a very rich history, and I look forward to working closely with my new colleagues for its continuous development and positioning as a leading education institution on the world-stage,” said Mr Li in response to his appointment.
