More Opportunities Favour Those Who are Prepared
Matthew Wong, Graduate, 2022 Professional Diploma in Aviation Management shares his views of being prepared to grasp opportunities.
Matthew Wong (Matthew) had always hoped to find a suitable and fulfilling job that allowed him to learn and grow. The HKIAA’s Diploma in Aviation Operations (DAO) has made it easier for him to transition into a new career in aviation.
In addition to the first month of classroom learning, Matthew was able to get a job in aviation security for the programme's 12-month industry placement. It was also his preferred choice for placement.
From his initial frontline work during the placement to his subsequent transition to the Human Resources department, Matthew gained a wealth of aviation knowledge and experience. The academic instructors and workplace supervisors assigned to Matthew consistently imparted valuable life and work lessons while encouraging him to pursue further education.
After graduating the DAO programme, he also successfully completed the Professional Diploma in Aviation Management, which equipped him for further career progression.
Matthew recognised that more opportunities favour those who are prepared. The urgency to commence swiftly is not essential; what truly matters is finding the right direction. He said, “ Know what you want, aim for it, work hard, learn smart, be a student for life – and opportunities will open up to you.”
