Rowling was a student in the 2023 Advanced Master in Air Transport Management (AMATM) programme. As a client chief investment officer with extensive experience in international asset management, her primary responsibility is helping clients preserve and grow their wealth through financial analysis, asset allocation, and portfolio construction.
Despite her finance background, Rowling's lifelong passion for aviation and her professional involvement in aviation asset valuations motivated her to enrol in the AMATM programme.
"What I like most about this programme is that it's a perfect combination of theory and practice," Rowling shares. The AMATM programme includes elements of traditional Business Administration courses while incorporating aviation-specific content such as airline strategy, marketing, and airport management.
This programme has given Rowling a comprehensive understanding of the aviation industry, benefiting her asset evaluation work. The programme's flexibility also allowed her to study effectively and prepare materials in advance to participate fully in class discussions, despite her busy schedule.
The diverse student body of the AMATM programme provided Rowling with valuable opportunities to interact with peers from across Asia. "Through this programme, I've had more opportunities to interact with people from North Asia and Southeast Asia. During group discussions and projects, I've gained better awareness of different cultural sensitivities." This cross-cultural experience has enhanced her communication skills with people from different regions in her daily work.
The AMATM programme has not only enhanced Rowling's professional knowledge but also significantly improved her soft skills. "Time management, communication, and strategic thinking from this course will really help me in the long run in my day-to-day work." These skills, combined with specialised aviation knowledge, have enabled her to evaluate aviation assets with a more comprehensive perspective and make more informed investment decisions.
